UTD WeTeach_CS Hub ~ 2025 Cohort

in partnership with UTeach

In Spring 2016, we first started offereing Computer Science training for current certified teachers to earn their CS certification. We have partnered with WeTeach_CS for the last few years to offer this training to increase the content knowedge and skills neded to bring high quality computing eduation to their students.

Participate in the hybrid secondary certification hub for a well-designed professional learning experience to prepare you to take and pass the TExES241 8-12 Computer Science Certification Examor the TExES242 EC-12 Technology Applications Certification Exam. Choose from one of the pathways below.

Each cohort will begin by March 2025 and will continue through Fall 2025.CPE hours will be awarded for In-person meetings.

There are TWO Options to choose from

Path 1 – TExES CS 8-12 Certification Pathway:

  • PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
    • Welcome meeting (March 1, 2025)
    • Programming language immersion (CMU CS Python based)
    • Transition to Foundations of CSCourse (InPerson 4/12 & TBD)
    • Foundations of CS for TeachersCourse
    • In-person Certification Prep training (July 17-18, 2025)
    • Must challenge the CS 8-12 exam by August 31, 2025
    • Academic Year experiences in CS pedagogy and/or additional test prep during Fall 2025
  • PROGRAM BENEFITS
    • Professional Development Stipend $2,000
    • Additional $1,000 for success on CS 8-12 certification exam
    • Testing fee reimbursed for up to two exam attempts

Path 2 – TExES EC-12 Technology Applications Pathway:

  • PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
    • Welcome meeting (March 1, 2025)
    • Tech Apps EC-12 cert prep 1-day In-person training –July 8 & 9, 2025
    • Tech Apps EC-12 cert prep practice (virtual)
    • Tech Apps EC-12 Practice –Canvas Course
    • Must challenge the Tech Apps EC-12 exam by August 31, 2025
    • Academic Year experiences in CS pedagogy and/or additional test prep during Fall 2025
  • PROGRAM BENEFITS
    • Professional Development Stipend $1,250
    • Additional $200 for success on certification exam
    • Testing fee reimbursed for up one exam attempt
